Shell team meets NPC President
On September 18, a Shell team led by Phil Watts, Managing Director of the Shell Group's Committee of Managing Directors, met Deputy Petroleum Minister and NPC President, M. R. Nematzadeh, here in Tehran and discussed issues of mutual interest. The Shell team also paid a half-day visit to the southern city of Mahshahr and visited Bandar Imam Petrochemical Complex and the development projects that are under way in the Petrochemical Special Economic Zone.
Prior to the visit, NPC, National Iranian Oil Co. (NIOC) and Shell signed a memorandum of understanding to study the construction of a 70,000-b/d GTL conversion plant in ParsEE
(NPC News Bulletin).
During their stay in Iran, the Shell team also met Minister of Petroleum Bijan Namdar Zanganeh and reviewed the current relationship between the two companies and the future prospects.
The leaving Spanish ambassador bids farewell to NPC President
At the end of his mission to Tehran, the Spanish Ambassador, Gabriel Busquets met with the NPC President M. R. Nematzadeh and reviewed the ties between the Spanish companies and financial institutions and NPC. Busquets said that he would do his best to further improve the existing cooperation between the two countries in his new capacity. Nematzadeh thanked and admired Busquets for his effort in bringing the two countries closer together.
During the past few years, the relationship between NPC and Spanish companies has witnessed a surge.
In an exclusive interview, Busquets told NPC News Bulletin that NPC is an important partner for the Spanish companies. He added that due to the NPC's rapid expansion, the Spanish companies' interest to participate in NPC's development programs has been on the rise stressing that they consider NPC as a partner for the future.
A high-ranking NPC delegation in Europe
A high-ranking team from NPC, headed by the NPC President, set out for a weeklong visit to Europe. During the visit, commencing on September 25, the NPC team held talks with the Haldor Topsoe's officials during their stay in Denmark. The meeting was followed by a tour of the company's R&D facilities. They also held talks with Borealis in Copenhagen to review areas of possible cooperation. The talks would be followed by a visit to the company's ethylene cracker and polyethylene as well as R&D facilities in Helsinki, Finland. Besides, the NPC team met with Fortum's officials and toured the company's MTBE plant.
The team also attended a seminar in London entitled "Iran Invest 2000" on 27-28 September. On the sidelines of the seminar, the NPC team had meetings with several leading European companies to discuss issues of mutual interest. Their visit was wrapped up by touring the EXPO 2000 in Hanoover, Germany and holding talks with some German companies involved in the NPC's projects.
