NPC President received environment award


Iran's Environmental Protection Department named Mohammad Reza Nematzadeh, NPC's President, as the winner of the country's national award for environment protection. The award recognizes outstanding leadership in corporate environmental issues. It was given to Nematzadeh in recognition of his efforts to protect the environment by implementing Environmental Management System (EMS) in the NPC's complexes. So far, four out of the NPC's nine operative complexes, i.e., Esfahan, Arak, Tabriz and Khorasan petrochemical complexes, have received the ISO 14001 certificate, which is regarded a remarkable record in the petrochemical industry. Another NPC subsidiary, Bandar Imam Petrochemical Complex, is expected to obtain the certificate in early 2001.

B. N. Zanganeh, Petroleum Minister attended the award giving
ceremony. The ceremony was held on the occasion of the
International Environment Protection Day.

Three NPC complexes received Green Industry Award


NPC took part at an international environmental fair convened on 25 June-1 July in Tehran and received the Best-attendant Prize for its fundamental activities in environmental protection. On the sidelines of the fair, a separate gathering entitled the Green Industry Forum was held in which NPC subsidiaries, Tabriz, Shiraz and Khorasan Petrochemical Complexes received the Green Industry Award. Esfahan and Arak Petrochemical Complexes had previously received the award.
Ms. M. Ebtekar, Vice President and Head of the Environmental Protection Department and B. Namdar Zanganeh, Petroleum Minister attended the Forum.
