NPC and a tripartite consortium concluded a contract for aromatics no. 4


On June 1, 2000, the National Petrochemical Company (NPC) awarded the contract for its aromatics no. 4 project to a consortium of Toyo Engineering Corporation of Japan, Shinwha of Korea and Sazeh of Iran. The consortium, which is led by Toyo Engineering Corporation, won the contract for the provision of technology, basic and detailed engineering and supply of equipment and material as well as technical assistance during construction and commissioning.

The value of the contract is 31.3bn Yen and $93.6 m. The complex, which is the world's biggest aromatics facility, will produce 3.19 m tons of main and by-products including 750,000-t/y of paraxylene, 430,000-t/y of benzene and 100,000-t/y of orthoxylene which are the facility's main products. Its by-products are light and heavy cuts, LPG, raffinate and heavy aromatics.

It will be located at ParsEE (Assaluyeh) on the northern coast of the Persian Gulf. Its feedstock is 4,500,000-t/y of gas condensate supplied from the South Pars gas fields and 270,000-t/y of pyrolysis gasoline, supplied by olefin no. 9 & 10 projects which are to be built in the same location.

The NPC's subsidiary, Borzoyeh Petrochemical Company, is responsible for constructing and running the project. The project is due onstream in 2003.

Negotiations for C2+ recovery & fractionation units of olefin no. 9 ended


Contract negotiations for the ethane plus recovery and fractionation units of the olefin 9th project which had started on May 27 in Tehran came to an end. This world scale olefin project will be built at ParsEE.

Tender documents for methanol 4th to be issued by end of June


NPC will issue tender documents for its methanol no. 4 project in ParsEE by the end of June 2000. The tender documents invite submission of proposals for 1,000,000-t/y as well as 1,500,000-t/y capacities.

Negotiations for urea granulation project kicked off


Bidders for an NPC's urea granulation project kicked off their technical and contractual negotiations with the NPC's subsidiary, Petrochemical Industries Development Management Co. (PIDMCO), here in Tehran. The project will be implemented at Razi Petrochemical Complex, an NPC's fertilizer producing facility south west of Iran.
