NPC president Mohammad Reza Nematzadeh has received an "Award of Merit" for his valuable and exemplary efforts and contributions towards the realization of the Iranian Government goals for the development and progress of the country. The Award was presented to him by President Khatami in a ceremony marking Iran's "government week" which was held in August 23-29. Nematzadeh earned his B.Sc. in environmental engineering from California Polytechnic University, San Luis Obispo, U.S.A., as a top student. He also received scholarship at the University of California at Berkeley on postgraduate studies in industrial management. He has covers of over thirty years of service in different industrial fields. From 1969 to 1978 he worked as technical director of various Iranian industrial companies. In 1978 he became a member of the board and deputy managing director of Iran Khodro company. In 1979 he became minister of labor and social affairs and in the following year, he was appointed minister of industries. In 1981 he took over as the deputy prime minister. From 1982-1985, Mr. Nematzadeh was a member of the board and deputy director of the Islamic Republic of Iran's Defense Industries Organization. In the following three years, he served as the chairman of the board and managing director of Tavanir company at the Ministry of Energy. In 1990 he became minister of industries and minds and served in this position for eight years. He currently is deputy petroleum minister & president of NPC.




NPC's commercial subsidiary, Petrochemical Commercial Co. (PCC), has signed several memorandums of understanding (MoU) with a number of leading Korean companies for the supply of a wide spectrum of products for 2005-2009. The products include paraxylene, benzene, methanol, polyethylene terephthalate (PET), polystyrene, polypropylene (PP), polyethylene (PE), LPG, ethylene and heavy ends. The target markets are China, South Korea, South East Asian countries and Russia to name some of them. Against this backdrop, an MoU has been signed for the supply of 200,000 tonne/year of methanol to a Chinese end-user. Another MoU has been inked with a Thai user for the supply of 100,000-150,000 tonnes/year of paraxylene. Besides, supply agreements have also been finalized with European companies for the supply of 500,000 tonne/year of heavy ends from Bourzoyeh Petrochemical Co, which is implementing NPC's aromatics No. 4, and 300,000 tonne/year of ammonia from Razi Petrochemical Co's ammonia No. 3.


Terminals and Tanks Petrochemical Co. (TTPC), a subsidiary of NPC's commercial arm, Petrochemical Commercial Co., has signed an agreement with an affiliate of the Royal Vopak BV of the Netherlands, to provide management services to its port facilities in the Petrochemical Special Economic Zone in Mahshahr and Pars Special Economic/Energy Zone in Assaluyeh. This agreement follows the Heads of Agreement that was signed in March 2004 outlining a joint venture between the two companies for sharing investment in jetties and terminals in the Zones.
