Bouali Sina Petrochemical Company (BSPC) is located at the Petrochemical Special Economic Zone in
southwest of Iran. It is responsible for the construction and operation of the NPC's third aromatics
project. BSPC spans over an area of 30 hectares.
Engineering work on the project started in December 2000. Construction activities got underway in April
2001. Bouali Sina's first phase was completed in October 2003. The plant will be in full operation by
August 2004.
In spite of the complexity of the project and the use of highly advanced technology, BSPC has been
implemented with minimal involvement of foreign companies. Apart from the license and basic engineering
work, which were awarded to European and Asian companies, other engineering work, procurement services and the
huge construction work have been executed by local companies.
Attempts have been made to localize the engineering and manufacturing work as much as possible.
The project's capital investment is $290.3m and Rials 541,200m. The rate of return on the investment
is estimated to be four years.
Bouali Sina will be producing 1.75m tonnes of various aromatic products (paraxylene, benzene and orthoxylene)
and by-products some of which have been supplied to local and international markets since October 2003.
The plant will use light and heavy naphtha and pyrolysis gasoline as its main feed with the latter being
supplied by the neighboring Amir Kabir facility.
