Ewald Trapp is the site manager for Karoon project, an isocyanate facility NPC
and its partners Hansa Chemie and Chematur Engineering are constructing at Petrochemical
Special Economic Zone. He has worked in Libya, Myanmar, and Russia. He has been living
and working in Iran for 16 years. He talks to NPC News Bulletin about his background, his
working experience with Iranian colleagues and ......

A. I was born in 1945 in a small village near the River Rhine some 65km from Frankfurt.
I started my job as a mechanical engineer and worked in the project division
(oversea projects) of my company in countries such as Libya, Myanmar, Russia and mostly Iran.
From 1992-1995, I was working as a site manager for Kachiran company in Qazvin, some 150km west
of Tehran, which manufactures sewing machines.

A. I joined Karoon project in spring 2003 from Chematur Engineering of Sweden. I was assigned
as the site manager after I received special training and instructions for the isocyanate project.

A. I like Iran. Altogether, I have been living in Iran for over 16 years. My wife is Iranian and two
of my three children were born in Iran. I have also Iranian friends. Iranian engineers and technicians
enjoy a very good and high-level education.

A. As a matter of fact, for such a big project, with difficult process cycles, a lot of activities
should be well coordinated. Up to now, we have achieved a 39% progress and I hope we can bring the
whole complex into operation on schedule.
After working for one year at Karoon site, I can tell you that all parties involved in the project;
contractors and subcontractors have done a good job with high quality.

A. The special experience I have had while working in this project comes from a very close and sincere
cooperation which is shared by Karoon managing director Mr. A. Sedghi and his whole staff both at the
head office and at site.
