A delegation from NPC, headed by the company's president, Mr. Mohammad Reza Nematzadeh visited
Syria and held talks with Syrian authorities to expand bilateral ties in petrochemicals field.
The visit was followed by an earlier trip by an NPC technical team to Syria. The team had
recommended four capital projects to be studied jointly by NPC and the Syrian side. Based on
the findings of the study, the most viable project would be selected for more in-depth feasibility study.
The two sides decided to form a joint team to carry out pre-feasibility study. Based on this team's report,
which will be prepared in three months' time, the two sides will draw up an action plan for future decisions.
During the recent visit, NPC expressed its readiness to provide technical assistance to Syria for renovate
its fertilizer complex.
Meanwhile, NPC's commercial arm, IPCC has employed a Syrian company Alia Plast as its distribution agent
in Syria. The agency agreement, signed on 13 September 2003, covers distribution of polyethylenes, polypropylenes,
polyvinyl chloride (PVC), acrylonitrile butadiene styrene (ABS), polyethylene terephthalate (PET) and PC.
