On April 19, 2000, Deputy Minister for Trade & Investment Policy of the Ministry of Commerce, Industry & Energy of the Republic of Korea, Mr. Hwan-Eik Cho, met with the Deputy Petroleum Minister and NPC President, Mr. M. R. Nematzadeh at NPC's headquarters. At the meeting, Mr. Cho said that the purpose of his visit to NPC was to further expand the ties between the Korean companies and NPC and explore new areas for future cooperation both in terms of transfer of technology as well as investment. He gave his assurance that the South Korean government would support cooperation with NPC. Hwan-Eik Cho invited the NPC President to pay a visit to Korea. Mr. Nematzadeh commented that the relationship between NPC and the Korean companies could develop further. Representatives from a number of Korean companies including SK Engineering & Construction, LG International Group, Samsung Corporation and Korea Export Insurance Corporation accompanied Mr. Cho at this meeting. The relationship between NPC and these companies was reviewed at this meeting.
