Iran's Minister of Petroleum, HE Bijan Namdar Zangeneh, will open the NPC's second international annual forum (IPF 2000) on May 6, 2000 in Tehran.
This year's IPF, entitled "Petrochemical Industry in the New Millennium" will explore issues of greatest concern to petrochemical industry including prospects for the industry (production, market & prices), investment, environmental & energy issues, management (safety, manpower, restructuring & globalization), feedstock (naphtha, natural gas and other hydrocarbons), R&D and prospects for regional cooperation.
It will also spotlight the past, present and future of the petrochemical industry in Iran concentrating, in particular, on the NPC's development projects under implementation at Pars (Assaluyeh) Special Economic/Energy Zone and Bandar Imam Petrochemical Special Economic Zone (Petzone).
It is expected that some 600 participants will attend the two-day forum.
A number of top-ranking Iranian government officials, including Vice President and Head of the Environmental Protection Organization, Minister of Foreign Affairs, Minister of Petroleum, Minister of Economic and Finance Affairs as well as some of the top-executives of the leading international petrochemical companies like Shell, SABIC, BP Amoco, IFP, Snamprogetti and Technip will address the event as keynote speakers.
On the sidelines of the Forum, three workshops will be held on the conversion of methanol to olefins, gas to liquid (GTL) conversion technologies and alkane dehydrogenation.
