Accompanying a high-ranking Iranian delegation headed by President Seyed Mohammad Khatami, NPC President M. R. Nematzadeh visited Spain. During his visit, Nematzadeh attended at an investment seminar organized by the Joint Council of Iran and Spain Chamber of Commerce where President Khatami, Spanish deputy prime minister and several top-ranking officials from both countries were present. He also took part at a specialized investment workshop on energy where scores of Spanish companies and officials including Energy Minister Jose Folgado were present. Mr. Folgado told the participants that Spain was eager to expand its relations with Iran in oil, gas and petrochemical fields. Nematzadeh on his part briefed the participants on the latest developments in the Iranian petrochemical industry particularly its investment programs.
During his stay, Nematzadeh met with officials from several Spanish companies including, Dradogos Industrie, Intecsa-Uhde, Repsol, Tecnicas Reunidas and Cepsa and discussed expansion of bilateral ties.
