Fajr centralized utilities complex is on the verge of completion at Bandar Imam Petrochemical Special
Economic Zone northwest of Iran. It will provide utilities including power, steam, raw water, demineralized
water, cooling water, fire-fighting, service and drinking water, plant and instrument air, nitrogen and oxygen
for all the process plants which are under construction at the Zone.
By the end of July 2002, the plant's overall
physical progress reached 92% while progress for phase one was 97%. Fajr chairman and managing director
Seyed Morteza Sanaee told NPC News Bulletin that "the entire offsite underground utility piping network is mechanically
completed. Part of the network was commissioned in February 2001. Air separation unit is in an advanced stage of mechanical
completion. DCS is powered on and loop checking is in progress. Meanwhile, pre-commissioning activities have started since
four weeks ago."
All water storage tanks in the water treatment plant are completed mechanically while raw water tanks
have been commissioned. Raw water and fire fighting piping networks have also been completed. A 24-inch fire fighting water
line from Fajr to Chimi Baft Petrochemical Co. was recently commissioned. Fajr is already supplying fire-fighting water
to Amir Kabir Petrochemical Co and Chimi Baft Co.
A 132KV power transmission line with a length of 30KM to Fajr battery
limit has been commissioned. The line, powered by Mahshahr-Ahwaz 400KV post, has been supplying power to Bandar Imam and Razi
complexes since February 2002. Meanwhile, power is now available at Fajr interface post too. Sanaee said, "the power plant's
gas insulated switchgear has already been energized. The phase one of the power plant includes 2 gas turbine generators which are
expected to be pre-commissioned in mid August 2002 upon which the plant can start producing both power and steam."
He reiterated that utilities would be available ontime.
The 132KV power cabling from Fajr to substations of Amir Kabir, Khuzestan
and BuAli Sina complexes have been completed while end terminations are progressing smoothly.
