NPC's 10th olefin project will be constructed in Assaluyeh, south of Iran in an area of 76 hectares.
The project consists of six production plants:
Cracking plant with output capacities of 1,321,000-t/y polymer grade ethylene,
305,000-t/y of polymer grade propylene and pyrolysis gasoline (PGH). PGH is the
plant's by-product.
Linear low-density polyethylene/high density polyethylene (lldPE/hdPE) swing plant
with a production capacity of 300,000-t/y
Polypropylene (PP) plant with an output capacity of 300,000-t/y
Mono ethylene-glycol (MEG) plant whose production capacity is 400,000-t/y
High density polyethylene (hdPE) plant whose output capacity is 300,000-t/y
Alpha olefin plant with an output capacity of 200,000-t/y.
License and basic engineering contracts for the ethylene, PP, PGH and CFO plants have been
awarded to Technip of France. Detailed engineering, equipment supply and construction contracts
for these units have been given to Technip and the Iranian firm Nargan. The European company Basell
provides the technology for the hdPE, and the lldPE/hdPE plants.Krupp-Uhde and Technimont perform
the basic engineering for the hdPE, and the lldPE/hdPE plants respectively. Krupp-Uhde and Sazeh are
given the hdPE's detailed engineering and constructions contracts while Technimont and Nargan were
selected as the contractor for the detailed engineering and construction work for the lldPE/hdPE plant.
Shell provides the technology contract for the PP, MEG and DEG plants. The plants' basic engineering
contracts have been awarded to technimont while Technimont and Iran's PIDEC have been picked up for the
detailed engineering and construction work.
The feedstock for the facility will be provided by the 9th olefin plant, 4th aromatics plant and Tabnak
Gas Company. The breakdown of the feedstock supplied by each of them is as follow:
From 4th aromatics:
680,000-t/y of light ends, 55,000-t/y of C5, 380,000-t/y of raffinate and 83,000-t/y of LPG
From the 9th olefin plant:
91,000-t/y of C5+, 264,000-t/y of C2 and 87,000-t/y of c3+
From Tabnak Gas Co.:
700,000-t/y of C2
The project's engineering work started in March 2001 and is expected to come onstream
in April 2004.
