NPC to study DSS
NPC and an international research organization agreed to launch a preliminary study of the needs assessment to implement application of Decision Support System (DSS) at NPC.
The study will investigate the major decision making processes and the major strategic problem areas of interest to NPC and select a key problem area for a DSS pilot project as a prototype to show explicitly the application of DSS at NPC. The typical problem areas of interest to NPC will include, but will not be limited to the following:
Project control, management of new petrochemical plants, expansion projects of the current plants, selection of new project plans , international and domestic market analysis of petrochemical products, master production planning in corporate level, human resource planning and budgeting as well as financial managerial and control.
The study and the pilot project aim at the following:
Helping NPC on some class of strategic decisions, evaluating accurately the results of previous decisions, incorporating lessons learnt from previous experience on future decisions, having proper drill-down and slice and dice functionality with good graphing and charting functionalities, making use of more detailed information in future as they become available when the operational applications get deployed, using industry standard database to enable the future interoperatablity of the systems and sharing of data between systems.
