BIPC's PX makes its entry into the international petrochemical markets

Following the commissioning of a paraxylene (PX) plant at Bandar Imam Petrochemical Complex (BIPC), south-west of Iran (NPC News Bulletin # 8&9), the plant's product found its way to the international markets with the export of two 5,000-ton PX consignments to Pakistan and Indonesia.

The plant has a capacity of 180,000-t/y of PX and approximately 40,000-t/y of by-products, including liquid distillates, light isomerates, fuel gas, C9 aromatics and toluene. BIPC feeds the plant with mixed xylenes and hydrogen.

BIPC's PX plant will provide feedstock for the NPC's 1st PTA/PET plant, which is currently under construction in a neighboring area.
