The Turkmenistan Vice President for Energy, Sapar Murad Nuryev, met with Deputy Petroleum Minister and NPC President Mr. Nematzadeh on December 7, 1999, in Tehran. At their meeting, Mr. Nuryev and Mr. Nematzadeh examined various issues and agreed to define the areas and scope of mutual cooperation between the two sides following the visit of an NPC expert team to Turkmenistan, which is scheduled for early 2000. During the meeting, Mr. Nematzadeh said that some of the Turkmenistan petrochemical projects fall within NPC core competency and expressed NPC's readiness for executing a urea and a soda ash project and rehabilitating a nitrate plant in Turkmenistan.
Germany's national day was held at the 25th Tehran International Trade Fair. On this occasion, NPC President, H.E. Nematzadeh met with the German Deputy Economics Minister, H.E. Axel Gerlack. At the meeting, Mr. Gerlack extolled a seminar that NPC had organized on September 2-3, 1999 in Hamburg, Germany on investment opportunities in the Iranian petrochemical industry. He commented that the seminar was very constructive and enlightening. The two sides reiterated the need for the expansion of economic and investment connections.
On September 21, 1999, Deputy General Director of the Norwegian Oil Ministry, Mr. Gonar met with the head of NPC International Affairs Department, Dr. Hamid Zaheri at NPC headquarters. The two sides conferred on ways of establishing relations between NPC and the Norwegian companies in techno-economic fields.
In a trip to Iran, President Hussain M. Sultan of Enoc of UAE met with NPC senior management. In their meetings, the two sides discussed investing in NPC's development projects and expanding commercial relations.
On October 25, 1999, a delegation from EXIM Bank of Korea met with NPC officials and discussed ways of expanding relations. At the meeting, the Korean side expressed its interest and readiness to cooperate with NPC for the coverage of NPC projects.
On November 30, 1999, a group of Spanish businessmen and industrialists met with the head of NPC International Affairs Department and discussed ways of expanding business with NPC. The Spanish delegation consisted of representatives from several companies active in the manufacturing of equipment and machinery related to the oil, gas and petrochemical industries.
A delegation from the Chinese Petrochemical Corporation SINOPEC headed by the Vice President of SINOPEC INTERNATIONAL, Mr. Fu Zhengkai, met with the General Manager of NPC International Affairs on December 7, 1999, to review existing relations between the two companies. SINOPEC intends to set up an office in Tehran to strengthen its presence in the Iranian oil related industries. Following a visit of an NPC delegation to China in early March 1999, headed by the NPC President, relations between SINOPEC and NPC have been steadily improving. |
